So the weather's been good and trust must be learned with also how things are going to go back in the coming months with mistakes that were going to bits and pieces with former regrets coming back to haunt me. But like the parents said it's good to get a break. So enjoy this day out which was last minute planned.
The Saturday,
So with another day of having to work , I got to the chance to catch up from how it was going to actually take it, I had one iPad to sort out as best that has been overdue and also it has been a hot weekend so customers were not as much. There was meant to be a visit to a customer but he cancelled so it was a case of going to visit someone to pick up money I was owed but as these things go with the past, I managed to get no telling where I'm meant to collect so that's looking like a bust. I mean mostly what I did the past week didn't happen so that will be useful for the day out.
I ended up getting the bus home at 6:20 and brought some of the cardboard with me to bring, some stares and comments about moving house but that I don't really mind.

With that hauled up I just got in and then it was time to change to then go to the local pub , I was a bit hmm since I looked a state but I then got myself changed with the stuff back and then it was onto the walk to the queen's head. We got there , mum and dad spoke to the landlord who was vaping outside , then we got in and found a seat at the back corner and I was unsure on what to order but in the end it was a choice between a curry or a Queensburger without the cheese. So the queen's burger and a basket of chips sounded the right one to go for.
A bit of chatter about what mum and dad did with Emma and some fencing sorted was while waiting and then various questions and gossip heard but eventually the burger came and the chips that mum and dad had were huge (not per chip size).
The Queensburger with Bacon, Oniom, Burger Sauce and a Bun for £9.75 and £4.75 for the basket of Chips |
Then it was more to chat on while they sipped their drink and I was finishing off the pint of lime and lemonade. But then partway through, dads brother walked in and we all chatted for a bit before they went over to the bar. But we then chatted more for a bit before we went up to the bar to settle up, around the 9ish mark to be fair. But after more of a chatter and settling up, we alkes out and it was a reminder of the fact that next Friday was going to be another birthday to deal with.
We eventually got home and it was then time to get changed and relax into something a bit more comfy before getting on the laptop and then to type some work up , especially while dealing with watching MTV ridiculousness on IPTV, then relax about the half past midnight mark with the usual fap but let Finley in and feed him first before bed.
The Sunday
So this was waking up at 7:30am and getting the phone charged up, well then it was time to fap and have a check to get more charged up before I woke up about the half past 8 mark and got the kettle on before shaving. Getting some shorts on and then time to greet mum who had already done a long walk with Rosie about from 7:30 or so. She said about 3 things she had seen which was
- A deer on the road just near us
- A kestrel flying around
- An adder flat on the road, slithering tongue while he had been Ran over
Which was nice and Rosie enjoying more old huge balls, Finley napping in the shade under a tree. But by 9, I was ready to go back in to get a shave done and prepare things, since I didn't want to change until I went toilet and also made sure things like the phone were ready.
But then it was time for toilet which was a struggle for a reason or two. But then it was paper used and I got changed to the shorts from yesterday and also a nice shirt for a change, but then things off and i was ready to go with them. We walked to the station and the train was already there. So we got on it, met our neighbors for some pirate weekend on the Barbican and then we were on.
Before we begin, i HIGHLY Recommend the use of Train Track if Android and some app there might be on iOS like Train times.
The train ride
It was nice to be on the 4 seater with able to face each other and to be fair, the train was pretty busy, so it was checking times for changeover and hearing various chatter. But we then looked on the app and turns out a train to Cardiff was delayed and that meant it would be less of a change overtime for us. IT was interesting we got on and we saw the neighbours nearly behind us.
So we then waited and once the train got and stopped at Plymouth, we then walked to platform 8, which then we got on and saw a fair few waiting. Shortly after, the IET arrived and we got on coach C, which was peaceful and massive legroom but I forgot that there were no usb ports, only a 240V mains which I didn't bring a compact charger to fit in my pocket. But we got on and it was such a smooth ride, Huge leg room too, I could not even stretch my legs out.

But then we paused st Newton Abbot, it was getting semi busier and also it was getting to the scenic part of the journey, which is to Dawlish and Starcross, which the Wall was being built nicely with the bridge, the road from starcross to Exeter was legit packed and queued. But made it easier to get to said places when it was no delays to deal with.

We eventually got to Exeter St Davids, s about 12:10 and by pure luck there was an train to Exmouth to catch which was the ideal timing for getting in. So we walked up the stairs and then boarded the train which was only a corner journey but by the time the conductor was to pop past us , we managed to get off and made it to the central.

Time for a Spoons Lunch
So we walked in and it was dead quiet to be fair, it was hardly many and we then moved to find a seat before we got to the bar and ordered. It was 2 chicken tikka and then one mini boneless chicken basket for me. Then it was to get to the toilet and to be fair to it, the toilets were posh looking compared to the Tavi spoons. But I then walked to the roof garden which was nice and at night would be fantastic,
The view from the spoons |
As I turned data on a friend WhatsApp me saying about something or other which it can make rules feel like one from one and some for another really. But shortly as I got down, it was then chatter from mum about my sister's baby shower which basically leads to a BBQ after and having to kill time around the 23rd or June or something like. But then the food arrived and it was time for some sharing.
The Shared food and Boneless chicken basket with Chicken Tikka Masala |
Then it was to get to tuck in and some of the tikka poured out as well as the basked of the chicken was shared. The sauce was lush and it did have nice breaded chicken bits too. But then we ate and it was just nice to enjoy spoons once in a while. Eventually we made our way out by 1:45 or so and then we decided to walk our way to the quay since both like it down there from the vibrant crowd and also the looks of the river and it just can be nice at night for sure. As we walked to the cathedral first my feet tripped up and nearly pushed mum to the road, since I'll realise it had a bit of slippy feet with the skechers,
The Cathedral with the bird flying near past |
Then it was the case to walk to the right to go down then leads in the subway under the road, which again was an almost trip since of the higher kerbs used there. But 5 minutes later we made it to the quay itself.
The Walk around the Quay
So the plan was to browse the shops there from cute cards, cat memes on purses and even more cute gifts and crafts, dad purchased a card for his dad's for the birthday next week then we started to walk our way down to the bridge further down, I listened to a voice note on WhatsApps and I even saw someone fly fishing at the bottom of the wear when the water was ferocious down the slip.
The view of the weir and the fly fisher |
Then we past the bridge after going inward a slight bit, loads were cycling along here so maybe it gives me an idea for a cycling vlog if I get time or something. But then we walked the other side of the river and it was packed with people and then we continued on to see some of the other sights and cafes and bars galore along both sides.
The other side of the quay with Rockfish and some other bite |
We walked up towards the top of the quay and this cafe and antiques place was there which we walked in and into the cafe, then we chose some Various cakes which me and mum shared a lemon coconut one and the other was a fruit cake for dad which he said was a bit dry. We then walked out and got the table arranged to get 3 of us to sit there.
The view from the table |
Then we chatted about more things and it was coming to the fact that fish were in the quay, a lovely shole of them and swans itching and resting on the mud like they normally do too . Then the cake arrived 6 or so minutes later.
The Cake and Apple juice |
Eating the cake felt nice and it was a chance for dad to enjoy the latte as well, but the cake of fruit was a bit dry to be fair from what I was told, but I didn't have that. After that and more talking . We make it to walking to getting back to the city, a nice walk back via the way we got to the quay with no tripping.
Then it was walking around to get to princesshay, I wanted to visit the Oriental shop but we didn't get time, but dad wanted to get some ice cream and that itself was a mini quest for finding out where, which in the end we had to go to the guildhall and into Sainsburys, even that felt like a maze. But we got to go for a double sun magnum with mango, coconut and white chocolate. We ate that by the building in the middle which I remember Poundland use to be there that's gone now though, but a failed stall and a burger stall packed up as we were eating.

Then it was to head back
The resting journey of delays
So we started to make our way back from 3:30 which the station was not so much dead but trains at Exeter central were nothing. Our train was delayed by a few minutes so we managed to go to the toilet before getting the train which the south western railway, that was a quieter way to go and lovely seats. We then got to St David's and the train was going to the ends of the platform and then right opposite was a cross-country train back to plym. So we walked to get it and 3 coaches down and it was practically an empty coach. So we sat by a table and then 3 minutes later the train was off.
The view as the train to change |
This was peaceful and a fast ish journey. But then a speech was heard of reduced food from the food coach, so I got some notes changed and had a look but well, since of that issue I had to deal with the past week, of someone from the past. So there was no money on card to buy and the chap on coach B had no change. So I walked back and then looked at the EX estuary.
As we were approaching dawlish warren, we were slowing down and a speech from the fact the train had to stop since of a train that was late further down so a distance of a queue. Which it was to admire the sea and then we continued on, sure the part of teignmouth was slow but it actually was to be a relaxing part. But then normal part of the journey and we got into Plymouth about 5 on the dot.
The subway for a Train Tea home
So with 30 minutes to kill or so, it was time to have a walk or in our case, walk to subway to get tea. Which we walked up the hill then past the underpass and near the student flats and the road at the bottom was under construction but we passed it and then got to subway. Which then it was about 2 people in the queue. So mum and dad shared a footlong which the meal deal is now like £9.19 or so and the 6" is over the £5 if you do not go for the classic. But from one girl i subbed to on OF said on a status, the Subway cookies are something else so made me excited to finally have my first subway in like 3 years. But I went for
- Hearty Italian
- Chicken Tikka
- Gherkins
- Lettuce
- Sweet onion sauce
- Mountain Dew Citrus
- Doritos Chilli Heatwave
We then paid up and walked back up the hill, since we had a half tub of pringles on the way back from exeter to finish off as well. But we got back into the station and the train was right there on platform 3. Since sometimes it does come early. We got on the train and then sat at a table to then tuck in, I waited about 5 minutes before since Wanted to eat as it was moving, but that was still 10 minutes later again.

Then it was a nice quiet ride home while, well actually one kid in front of us was kicking off and also it was a warmer train with golden hour still shining bright. But the journey was a non stop pretty much minus the stops of the stations on the usual route. But with the majority of the ones that got on in the first train got on this one to go home, it felt nice to be fair, though as of this weekend this is not the last train back on the Sunday, there is a later one at 8pm.
The blurred night photo at 1am |
Then I went to sleep and the first non day of monday I've had ever since moving, is about to happen.
The Monday.
Random message I got sent |
The Katsu Curry sauce and the nuggets for £1.10 |
Then it comes to the fun part, I cycled on the hill and the smell of pastry was yummy, but then parked up and got to the Ginsters Shop aka Cornwall Bakery. I walked in.
Entering the shop |
So I got in there, it was mostly closed off but looked on the menu on what to order but then I looked at the bottom. Perfects = Gluten Free Pasties box £0.50, So i asked about it and then you know, I walked out of there with a box of 6 Gluten Free Cornish PAsties for £0.50, an absolute bargain and means I spent £20.30 just over on food. So i squished the box back in and time to cycle home. I got home about 2:15 and unpacked.
The total amount spent today for about £20.30 |
So then it was some catching up and train booking ideas on the toilet for 45 min before it was time to get changed and take rosie for a walk, so we walked to the bottom of the valley via a lane or 3 footpaths and up a path I use sometimes to run home from the evenings at work. By that point I was sweating and had to carry a bag of dog poo for most of the footpaths, until back at Dimson. Then a road to walk up and I got home about 4:25.
So then it was time to have a late lunch of a toasted ham salad sandwich and that Gluten free pasty. It was nice but the cold made the taste different and it looked more like a pasty compared to the looks the normal versions do.

Then it was te time to relax and some chores to be done before cooking at 6:45 for when mum got home about 7:20 or so. It was just that tesco order and some egg fried rice chucked in the pan to fry. It was nice and filling too and not too rich.
